Laura Frahm received an MA in Theater, Film and Television Studies, History of Art, and Romance Languages and Literature (Spanish) from the University of Cologne in 2004. From January 2005 to December 2007 she was a doctoral fellow at the Transatlantic Graduate Research Program Berlin–New York “History and Culture of the Metropolis in the 20th Century.” Her dissertation entitled Beyond Space. Cinematic Topologies of the Urban was published in 2010. In Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 she was Visiting Scholar at Columbia University and NYU, New York City. Since April 2008 she is researcher and lecturer at the IKKM Weimar.
Her areas of research are media philosophy and film history; theories of space, topology and cinematic space; cultural urban studies; music videos, short films and installation art.
