Juntang Chen

Juntang is a junior in the German Department concentrating on Media and Aesthetics, with an interdisciplinary research interest across visual art, cognitive science, and philosophy of mind. She is passionate about aesthetic and critical theory in Germany from Hegel to Adorno, especially regarding how art interacts with and manifests the human psyche, consciousness, and mind. Outside her academic studies, Juntang is trained as a visual artist who devotes herself to multimedia art creations, exploring realms from oil painting, sculpture, photography, and filming to 3-D interactive installation. On campus, she serves as a writing fellow at the Princeton Writing Center, helping peers in refining various written projects. In her leisure time, she enjoys practicing equestrian show jumping, solo traveling accompanied by her sketchbook, and freediving whenever the tide allows it.

In the current academic year, she is studying at Freie Universität Berlin through the Berlin Consortium for German Studies, where she continues exploring her passion for both visual arts and aesthetics theory in the city’s exuberant artistic atmosphere and humanistic scene.
