Ezra Y. Shin
Ezra is a senior in the German Department focusing on philosophy. Through his thesis, he plans to explore symbolic practices of representing or visualizing movement through space that are at once sequential texts, read linearly, and synoptic images, apprehended in a moment. Two such practices are cartography and dance notation—the idea of the former in part inspired by the research he conducted in Seoul this past summer, which involved mapping North Korean human rights violations via geographic information systems technology.
On campus, Ezra is the President of Princeton for North Korean Human Rights (PNKHR) and the starting goalie for the Men’s Club Lacrosse team.
