Sophie Lin-Wiese

Sophie Lin-Wiese’s academic interests center on medieval Europe and the many facets of medieval daily life from castles and combat to fashion, visual arts, and manuscript culture. She is particularly drawn to material culture, archaeology, and art history as ways of understanding medieval life. She is also interested in languages and trade, and the intersections between the Germanic and Slavic regions. Before coming to Princeton, she served in the United States Marine Corps as an air traffic controller and ATC instructor in Japan. In her free time, she enjoys writing poetry and short stories, drawing, historical fencing, and traveling. Sophie will likely follow the Media & Aesthetics track in the German major, and is also pursuing minors in Medieval Studies and Archaeology. After Princeton she plans to pursue graduate studies.
