Special Exhibition Curated By Graduate Student Dennis Schäfer
Inventing Hoffman artwork
Curated by graduate student Dennis Schäfer, a special exhibition at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin commemorates the 250th birthday of the author, composer, and jurist E.T.A. Hoffmann. Drawing on the extensive holdings of the Staatsbibliothek, Inventing E.T.A. Hoffmann (1776-2026) presents unique art books and bibliophile editions, tells stories of material loss and exile, and opens up a window into the transnational book culture that has been celebrating Hoffmann and his work for nearly a quarter millennium. The exhibition opens on February 26 and will be on display at the Kulturwerk until May 16.
