Annie Xiong
Annie is a senior in the German department concentrating in Media Theory and Aesthetics, pursuing minors in Environmental Studies and History. For her junior paper she explored surrealist photography during WWII and the ethical dimensions of art in a fascist context. She will be focusing on Weimar visual culture for her senior thesis, touching on themes of gender and decadent culture. Having lived in China and South Africa, she is also interested in cross-cultural identities, experiences of exile, and conceptions of homeland in the German context. Outside of German studies and Art History, Annie is also interested in sustainability, the net-zero transition, and the environmental humanities.
On campus, Annie is an active member of the Princeton University Art Museum Student Advisory Board, and the Brooklyn College Success Program, which offers college counseling to high school seniors. In her free time, Annie enjoys listening to podcasts, visiting art museums, and trying new restaurants with friends.
