The series is designed for classroom use in German and Medieval Studies as well as for the more advanced scholar in fields adjacent to that of German literature.

It is published by Medieval Institute Publications and belongs to The Consortium for the Teaching of the Middle Ages (TEAMS). Prof. Sara S. Poor became General Editor of the series in 2009, succeeding Prof. Michael Curschmann.

Athenäum

Athenäum was founded in 1991 as a scholarly journal dedicated to research on German romanticism by Ernst Behler, Jochen Hörisch, and Günter Oesterle. Manfred Frank joined the board of editors in 1996. Since 2008, it is edited by Ulrich Breuer (Mainz) and Nikolaus Wegmann (Princeton) as Athenäum – Jahrbuch der Friedrich Schlegel-Gesellschaft.
